    VLC and Chrome OS

Thanks for this new site which will come in very handy for layman like me. Greetings from Singapore to the organiser and everybody out there on the web. i am now just starting to use the Chrome computer and am very happy with the performance. Can anybody out there help me with this problem. I cannot download videolan software into the chrome as most of the files for mobile phones and some of the downloads cannot be open by the chrome computer. Thanks. Pete Lam Chee Seng.

VLC isn't available for Chrome OS at this time. While media support for the built-in player has improved somewhat, you may find that uploading to Google Drive may let you view a wider range of files.
Google Drive lets you view these file types:

Image files (.JPEG, .PNG, .GIF, .TIFF, .BMP)
Video files (WebM, .MPEG4, .3GPP, .MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .FLV)
    Text files (.TXT)
Markup/Code (.CSS, .HTML, .PHP, .C, .CPP, .H, .HPP, .JS)
    Microsoft Word (.DOC and .DOCX)
    Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
    Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT and .PPTX)
    Adobe Portable Document Format (.PDF)
    Apple Pages (.PAGES)
    Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
    Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
    Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF)
    Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
    Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
    PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
    TrueType (.TTF)
    XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
Archive file types (.ZIP and .RAR)
Installing ChrUbuntu is also an option.
