How can I get Network File Share for Chrome OS to work with Synology DS116?

Hello,
I purchased a Synology DS116, trying to get it mapped to my chromebook (HP G13). I've done this before with an older NAS and it worked (but Google stopped supporting SMBV1 so it stopped working.)

I've tried every iteration of protocol that I could think of (IP address, device name, etc.) I know the NAS works and is visible on the network because I mapped it to my linux box and it works great.

Is that something special that I need to enable? FYI I did see a post similar to this one, but it's locked so I can't post there.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I want to create a catalog, because I always have friends wanting to borrow my movies. What I tried to do is upload the exported html file with the pictures, etc. into a dropbox folder and then share the folder with my friends. However, this never works. I want the pictures to be visible on the html file on devices other than my own computer.
