Does anyone know how to rid Linux Mint 17:3 of a search engine which has downloaded itself onto my PC, it seems to be attached to Goggle Chrome and I beleive has downloaded a "Ransom Virus". If I try to access Goggle Chrome this virus locks up my PC demanding I ring
toll free 0-800-088-5480. Obviously they will just take my money with no result.
It has a heading of: delta 24.online/uk/old_blue 2_5480/
I tried various things on Terminal but I can never get terminal to work not speaking "nerd"!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Ken.

This is possible because of the recent attack on Linux Mint. If this is the reason then take your desktop offline, take the backup of your data and then again reinstall if at all you want it.
