I've been running Red Hat or some variant thereof for about 1 1/2 and decided I was kinda tired of the whole thing and would give Debian a try. I actually have been trying out Storm Linux. Now I've run into a slight problem.

When I boot I get LIL- and that's it. I ran into this when I installed Mandrake 7.0 and ended up specifying linear mode during the lilo setup and this seemed to work. I tried this with Storm Linux and this doesn't seem to be working.

I'm running linux on a p133 with 48mb RAM. I have a 4GB drive partitioned with a 50MB partition mounted as /boot, a 128Mb partion for swap and the rest mounted as /.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Geometry Mismatch

The How Linux Works guide at:
http://ctdp.tripod.com/os/linux/howl...rks/index.html
Item 10 essentially states:

LIL Geometry mismatch or media (disk) failure
Geometry failure means the number of cylinders, heads, or sectors in the BIOS configuration did not match the disk.
You can use the command "hdparm –g /dev/hda" to determine hard disk geometry.

Check your BIOS. Is it set for auto detect? I would recommend the auto setting if possible. Also is the drive SCSI? If it is IDE, you should have no problem if your BIOS is set correctly.

I hope this helps.
