I hope this isn't out of place. I notice the description of this area is any non-Linux matters.
I was just wondering what does some of you think about the Rusians leader's timeliness in accepting support. Do you think had they accepted support fast enought they may have saved some lives?

I for one was pretty surprised when they turned down western help. In my opinion it shows that they haven't nearly broken free from the Soviet-era thinking.

Personally I'm pretty sickened by the fact they waited so long to accept foreign help. They made TEN (ten!) attempts at the sub then finally aknowleged the fact that they were underequipped and decided to accept help from the UK and Norway. Of course, by this time their sailors had perished and it became a salvage operation. The rescue people from Norway made it on there first attempt, which had it been done earlier might have had the chance to actually find some sailers alive. The Russian people have every right to be very angry at the government, they blew it.

Well that makes you wonder why? Did they let these guys die to hide something? It's very sad!
