Hello everyone,

can someone please tell me where I can download
"Promise Ultra100TM IDE Controller Driver (for A7V with Promise Ultra100 IDE controller)" for Linux? I'm having major problem installing Linux 7.0. I know I need this driver because this same problem also happened when I was installing Win2K and I was able to resolve the problem when
I downloaded the driver (Promise Ultra 100TM IDE Controller Driver v1.60 (Build 25) for Win9x, WinME, WinNT4 and Win2000) for Win2K at http://www.asus.com/Products/Motherb...river_ide.html Unfortunately, Asus site does not have the driver for
linux. I have an AMD 900mhz asus a7v machine. I have a 30 gig 7200 ata100 drive on the ultra100 cables and slots.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!

Thank you!

PS. Please feel free to email me!

Cool

Do you have 4 IDE slots??
it seems like my problem ...
I have a Epox via apollo 133a and comes with 4 ides, 2 "normal", 2 with a "Raid ata 100 controller" stuff (HPT370), well with RedHat 7.0 (I suppose that you have that) with kernel 2.2.16 don't have support for that. Well, when i download the new 2.4.0 i realize that came with support for hpt370 ... may be it came support for you too.

At the moment (this is my solution) i change the the disk to the normal ides ... works fine with windoze & linux

Hello Antonio,

thanks for the reply! Yes, I do have 4 ide slots and I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 7.0. You say you managed to fixed it but I'm not quite sure how. If it's not too much trouble would you be kind enough to expand on your solution?
I have 2 hard drives (30GB and 4.3GB). I want to install the Linux on the slave (4.3GB). Thanks a lot!
