I want to change the UsrDir from public_html to /home/"username"/Desktop/homepages/ but I can't get it to work. If I try to access http://ip-number/~"username" I get a 404 error.
I'm pretty sure I've got all permissions set corect, so it must be something wrong with the path.
I've tried alot of different paths but nothing works.
Anyone got any idea?

What paths have you tried? Did you make sure that mod_userdir is loaded into apache? If you put "UserDir Desktop/homepages" into httpd.conf it should work.

thanks

Thanks.

I solved it a couple of days ago. It was a real stupid mistake. Apparently there should NOT be a / before the path.
So it should read: UsrDir Desktop/homepages
I had written: UsrDir /Desktop/hompages.
