Question

My installation of Red Hat Linux went well, but now I need to connect to the outside world. I got a linux driver for my Intel Pro 100 NIC on an MS-DOS floppy, but now I need to mount it on my Linux box. I found out I need to type -t msdos /dev/fd0 /floppy, but I don't know how to get to a prompt in GNOME to access a prompt so I can type the string. Also, any other suggestions you have that may help me get the driver installed would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just open up any of the terminal programs. You probably have a few - xterm, rxvt and eterm are just a few.

once you get a term running like jeremy said, just read the docs that come with the driver. They will probably walk U through it.
If the driver can be loaded as a module, you are in luck.
just copy the module (usually something like xxxx.0 to
/lib/modules/<kern #>/net/
Then in /etc/conf.modules add the line
alias eth0 driver
