1) Most cdroms are supported by linux without the need for a driver.
2) CD-RW support is on a per program basis, so you would need to find one that supports your model. cdrecord looks like it supports a few Acer CD-RW's, but I am not sure if yours is one.

3) Rockwell (now Conexant) never made modems to my knowledge - they make chipsets. You would need to find the exact make/model of your modem to get a definitive answer on whether it is a winmodem or not. However, MOST PCI modems are in fact winmodems.
