Why does Linux use the stripped down version of math.h? I'm used to pow(x,y), sqrt(x), etc., but I can't find head nor hair of any of these functions.

In a nutshell: "What gives?!?" :-)

pow and sqrt functions have been included in math.h "now", but who knows how these libraries looked like 9 years back!!

Actually, I do. These functions were there in Slackware 8, whose CD's were gathering dust on my bookshelf for some reason. Now I know the reason.

Though as discussed previously in LQ S&F, a zero reply thread doesn't have an age bar, but AFA this thread is concerned I admit that I answered it only for fun sake and I was prepared for all of bricks and bats

Comeon, it is not about bricks and bats. If you did it for fun I would inderstand but then again looking at your programing skills it would be a _lot_ better if you answered someone and we all learnt something.
