Unhappy

I'm installing RedHat 6.2 to an e-machines 400 mhz celeron processor with 32 meg ram.

The installation goes great and completes installing all the packages. Then it hangs. On moving the mouse, a pop-up appears saying "Performing post install configuration." It remains in that state regardless. We were able to reach the virtual console, which indicated "SystemError: (101, Network is unreachable')"

We believe we applied all the right IP data. Is there anything you might recommend?

We are trying to build a backup web server (our main is already running). As we have applied the same IP address to both machines, and both machines are connected to the network, could this be an IP conflict issue when the new installation tries to broadcast?

Thanks...

An IP address is a unique identifier, somewhat like a postal address. Because of this you can only have a single machine with an IP address. Try changing the IP and see what happens.

That's odd. That happened to me about...15 minutes ago. I've installed Red Hat v6.2 at least 5 times in the last 24 hours, and Debian 3 times in the last 24 hours, but this is the first time that Red Hat hangs right after it finishes copying the install files. (These 8 reinstallations are all the same machine; can't make up mind on which linux to use)

Angry Install RH76.2 hangs

I encounter the same systemError 101, 'Network is unreachable') problem after all packages are copied/installed. The system hangs. I used a unique IP address and were able to add a route so I can ping internet IP addresses. Please help.
The hardware is IBM Netfinity 1000 (256MB RAM)
