I need to update my blackbox installation from 0.51 to at least 0.60 for some themes i downloaded. In order to do this i need to update my libstdc++. When i try to do this kpackage says i cant because a butt-load of other packages depend on my current version. I want to know if i can safely ignore these dependancy problems. If anyone knows how i can upgrade with little or no hassle please tell me.

thanks in advance.

Can you force the upgrade? Yes.

Safely? Probably not.

libstdc++ is one of the packages that is required by your compiler. If you're going to upgrade this package, then upgrade them all. It doesn't take that much extra time to upgrade them, and your compilers will be up to date with the latest bug fixes.

If you force the upgrade, chances are you won't be able to compile any other programs, since your libstdc++ will be a greater version than your compiler.

Thanks for the advice, your right im sure. i should have known there was no easy way in linux. If i wanted easy and mindnumbing i probably should have stuck with windows. (lol, ha ha, oh the humanity.) Let the fun begin.
