How do I install modules into a kernel? I want to install a winmodem module "ltmodem" for my compaq presario 1256. I am running kernel version 2.2.17 on Mandrake 7.2. Thanks.

You can do this by the insmod command. You might want to man insmod to learn all the flags and stuff.

i think that you might also want to try modprobe - it installs all other modules on which the required module depends. first of all try depmod -a and see whether you don't get any 'unresolved symbols' messages.
if you want to see what modules are currently installed
do lsmod and to remove module do rmmod

HI,

I did the same sort of thing and did get unresolved symbols, I have no idea why though??? The driver install appeared to work oK?
