Which commands?

Anything specific or just commands in general?

For help on a specific command, type "man 'command name'" at the command prompt ($). For example, to see what options the command ls uses, your command line would look like:

$man ls

Try this short manual, available in many formats including post script and pdf.

Wink

ls-show files in current directory(color-coded)

dir-show files in current directory

cd <name>-change to certain directory

cd..-go back a directory

; is used to make a string of commands for example:
clear;linux_logo;date;sleep 1h

press <tab> to viw all possible commands
type something<tab> to complete it to the machines ability
for example: on my machine, if i type linux_ <tab> it completes the line as linux_logo or if i'm in a directory and i want to cd to a directory of long filename, i type about half of it and press tab!

halt-unmounts filesystems and stops services and readies the machine for powerdown.

those are pretty much the most basic commands for most shells. there are MANY more commands than that, though

have fun
